The Engaging Voice Podcast – Utilizing fitness to address injuries common among musicians

Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to sit down as a guest speaker on Tara’s “The Engaging Voice Podcast” to talk about “UTILIZING FITNESS TO ADDRESS INJURIES COMMON AMONG MUSICIANS.” We delved deep into my journey and expertise in helping musicians like you stay healthy, strong, and pain-free.

During our podcast discussion, Tara and I explored various facets of my journey. I shared how I transitioned from being a flutist with an injury to a music fitness coach dedicated to helping others. One pivotal moment was when people at a flutist convention in Florida began asking me for help. That led to my first workshop, and from there, I started traveling to universities, sharing my knowledge with budding musicians.
One key takeaway that I emphasized during the podcast is this: “Rest is NOT rehab.”
Many musicians, including some of you, suffer from common issues like shoulder pain, low back discomfort, and weak core muscles. When clients come to me, we kickstart their journey with a comprehensive movement assessment, covering both upper and lower body. This assessment forms the foundation of a personalized fitness regimen, addressing each individual’s unique needs.
But that’s not all! I also shared insights about a powerful tool in my arsenal: NeuroKinetic Therapy. This innovative approach employs manual muscle testing to uncover the root causes of pain. It’s a corrective movement system that targets dysfunctional movement patterns stored in the brain, offering a path to lasting relief.
